Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education Institute of Education Sciences (IES), the Florida Industry Certification Study explores the implementation and results of the Career and Professional Education (CAPE) Act. Understanding Florida's certification practices and educational outcomes for students can help policymakers and educators in Florida and nationally.

About the Study

In 2018, the Florida Industry Certification Study conducted a web-based survey of every district and traditional or vocational high school in Florida. The survey focused on school strategies for promoting industry certifications, teacher supports, perceived costs of the program, and program challenges. The initial findings are available in a series of issue briefs on this website.

Currently, the Florida study team is examining what happens to students who earn industry certifications in high school compared with similar students who did not. Specifically, we will see whether those who earn an industry certification are more likely to graduate from high school and enroll in college than students who did not earn a certification.
